Unwired Day

Going device free for 24 hours? It may not seem that hard to do at first, until you actually try to do it.

As a society, we have become so glued to our phones. They are just an extension of ourselves. We live our lives on them, communicate with each other on them, buy food on them, everything! So when it came to trying to become unwired all day for this assignment, it was not easy at all.

9 AM – Woke up, took my shower and was getting ready for breakfast. Caught myself trying to check my phone and turn on the tv to start my day. It was awkward sitting in silence.

11AM – Started my drive to work, music free from my phone. I had to sing to myself, and it was kinda scary.

2 PM – Had the chance to do some office work, but only did paperwork and no computer work. I am still behind on paying bills and checking my emails.

4 PM- Started interviewing more applicants for the store. After hiring two new employees, I could not go. on the computer to finish creating their paperwork.

6 PM – Started my drive home. Had to sing to myself again. People stared.

THIS is where things get ugly…..no time for the Xbox.

After work, I typically spend 3-5 hours playing Xbox, more specifically Fortnite. More than I should ever play a game in the day, but it is why way of unwinding. This almost broke me, but I stayed strong and didn’t cave to the temptation.

It was a difficult day, and I realized that technology is so integrated into our lives, it is almost [seemingly] impossible to do anything. I think I will stick to my Apple Music, Netflix, and Fortnite.
